Bookdog, bookmark synching, Review

Bookdog from Sheep Systems is exactly the tool I’ve been looking for to synchronize bookmarks between different browsers, and different Macintosh Computers.

Pros:

  • Allows opening of multiple bookmark files all at once.
  • Allows merging of bookmark files from various browsers all at once including online bookmarks from Google and del.icio.us
  • Alphabetically Sorts Bookmarks
  • Verifies links and helps sort dead websites
  • Finds and helps delete duplicate book marks
  • Cons:

  • Not Freeware – 14 day free trial, $19.99 with free updates
  • Has not been updated since 2006
  • Does not grab bookmarks from Parallels
  • Not real intuitive to use and merge at first
  • Does not provide online synching to an FTP site for transfer between different locations, or home to work computer
  • Over all I give this program a 3.5 of 5. It’s great for a one time synch, to verify a huge number of links, or to better manage a large set of book marks.
