Facebook Login issues – October 2009
Facebook has been down for myself and an undetermined number of other people since October 4th, six whole days so far for myself. But I see possible reports going back to October 3rd, 2009.
As of the 6th, I started getting this message:
Before that is just said that Site Maintenance was going, and that my account would be back up in a couple of hours. I sent email to disabled@facebook.com and privacy@facebook.com , the only two contact emails I could find anywhere to ask what was going on.
“Hello,
My Facebook account has been disabled for quite some time now. I get:
“Account Unavailable
Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Unfortunately, a few hours has been nearly 48! I was wondering if there was a more firm ETA as I need to get some contact information out of my email for a job interview I have tomorrow.
Thanks Much! ”
Their reply was less then reassuring and puzzling in it’s “I didn’t read the question” answer:
“Hi,
Our systems indicate that the email address you are writing from is not associated with an account that has been warned or disabled. Please be aware that you must email us directly from the email address associated with the account in question in order for us to assist you.
Be sure to provide your full name and a brief description of the problem you are experiencing in your response, and include all of our prior correspondence so that we can refer to your original inquiry. If you are unable to send a message from your login email address, please list the email address in your response and we will look into this matter further.
If you’re writing on behalf of a friend, please ask your friend to write to us directly, so that we can confirm their identity for account security purposes.
If your inquiry is not related to a warning or a disabled account, please visit our Help Center at http://www.facebook.com/help.php

Uh.. yeah, thanks guys.
Their response that the site would be back up in 24 hours is days past and still no word. Facebook users (including myself,) are getting sorta of antsy. In my case, job searching has become harder as I have now lost contact with quite a few people who might have been able to help me. I still have my linkedin profile, but that has a fraction of the connections I had on Facebook.
Facebook’s response?
Nothing.
Not even a “we’re sorry,” or “the database is fubar and is being rebuilt as fast as possible but it’s a huge task!”
…. And, we're still down. I've read some reports that people are back up. But this is coming up on ten days now.
I, too, have been down for WEEKS! I've sent them emails letting them know that the site issues are NOT fixed, as advertised. When I do manage to get in, I have access to games only … not messages, not friends … no wall posts, layout is messed up, etc.
I have also had the same problem… However I have found a way around it.. Enter Facebook through an email you may have from facebook.. It's kinda of pain but it is a way around the problem.. Then also to get back to your home page from any of the application sites go to your inbox page first and then press the home tab.. Carzy but it works..

Glad to know I am not the only one facing this problem. I am very annoyed. I ended up getting Firefox which is good thinking IE was the issue, can get in easier but still no one can see any statuses I write, when it actually lets me write one. I get a lot of you must be logged in to do that? So weird. I hope they fix this issue soon. Or are they even aware there is a problem?
Frustrated to the Max!!!
I have had the same problem for a week now. I have complained to two different addresses I found and have not received one response. If I am able to login I generally only see my page and group pages. Nothing else. So frustrating. They obviously have not fixed anything.
Same thing here. Yesterday, I was able to log on but it showed that I have 0 friends. Now, I can't even log on. The lack of a support email address is definitely frustrating.
Oct 22 and FB is acting truly wierd. Lots of strange messages, partial page loads, warnings that I can no longer chat with my friends because "it is not allowed." wierd!
I am also experiencing the same issues. Majority of the time I cannot log in. When I do get in, I cannot "like" anything, I cannot comment on people's profiles telling me I do not have permission and my chat tells me I me offline when I am truly online and then goes from 0 friends online to showing all the normal friends back online and then back to 0 friends online again. This has been going off and on over the last 2 weeks for me. I am not sure what they are doing but they need to get this crap fixed ASAP since a lot of people get there that I know of. Anyway, hope to see some improvements or answers very soon.
Same here since this morning. Not very happy, since I'm usually checking on FB on the weekends. Considering alternatives to FB… we'll see.
I'm having same problems and much more. The little times that I am able to loggin facebook doesn't work properly. Im soo angry
I can get in sporadically andit has been going on for weeks, when I do het in I notice they have changed the format of some of the apps in particular the "groups" app this could be an update gone wrong but only seems to affect some users, my daughter has not experienced any of this and she logs in from the same computer.
I guess this is more of a vent site, but I'll chime in with more of the same. All of the above login, app, friends, chat…everything going on here. Sick of it and yes there is no good contact. Come on Facebook let us know what's up someone.
The ugly layout change is one thing but that lag issue is reallllly irritating. I require Facebook for my freelance work and it's starting to really piss me off…

I have had this problem for weeks as well and I think it started with my Blackberry app. Initially, I only got the error messages with my app but then a week ago started noticing I couldn't log on via the web-I can still log on at times via my Blackberry browser. The one thing strange I noticed was that I was getting friend requests on my phone that were not on the actual Facebook home page-strange. As I examined the friend requests, they looked legit and I approved them as they were people I knew. Sometimes the request would eventually appear on the web but not usually. I have been locked out of FB for quite some time and am going through FB withdrawal as I use it for all kinds of things (900 friends, most of which are business contacts). This really sucks.
Why is my Facebook down? I checked with friends and theirs are fine. It's been at least 5 hours now. I have never had a problem before this.

I would like to know why I can't log in to face book. I have Sxipper that is a program I use to remember my user name & pass words on all web sites I visit regular.
I have treed to get logged in so many times now I'm blocked, i must have clicked on the wrong thing when I looked up my user name I found I had 2 pass words saved there were maviss and 2spooner i tried to get it fixed and got confused trying to log in.
please let me know wat is going on
