Having recently watched some TV at a friends house, we came across several channels where the picture was funny looking. The shows were stretched to fill the 16×9 aspect ratio from the original 4×3 standard. It made some funny looking shows, but worst of all annoyed the heck out of me.

New TV explains why this is. My vote is for the black bars, play the show like it was meant to seen and don’t mess with the aspect ratio.
