iTunes: Changing the World
iTunes is probably one of the most used apps on OS X. Despite that it seems that it’s impact on the music world in general has been heavily over shadowed by the success of the iPod. Despite some predictions the iPod/iTunes combo is here to stay for a long time.
CD sales are down and there is ample proof that DVDs are next. Even Radio Stations are starting to get it all with the help of our dear friend iTunes. In the day when getting coffee and MP3s at the same time is possible it’s hard to imagine not having iTunes there.
I predict that iTunes’ current form will morph soon. Apple is already getting there with the iPhones capabilities. Apple’s next coup seems like it has to be a PDA device, which will still use iTunes to sync all data including not only MP3s and movies, but Address Book, Mail, Stickies and possibly more. Maybe the iPDA will just be a souped up iPhone, but it’s coming sooner or later. And iTunes will be there working hard and nearly forgotten.
