Universal Binary Gimp beats Adobe to market

What’s better then open source beating Adobe to market with a Universal Binary?

Yeah, I don’t know either. Back in my hardcore FreeBSD days I played with GIMP quite a bit. It lacked a lot of features that Photoshop has. But hey, it was free at the time. A real plus considering that Photoshop retails at $649 (or $169 upgrade.)

The news here is that Adobe is not expecting to release a Universal Binary version for quite some time, possibly as late as April 2007! I realize that Adobe is planning on releasing the whole Creative Suite in UB, and that GIMP only replaces one part of that Suite, but it’s still amazing to me sometimes what the Open Source community can do.
