Ramifications of Russia invading Georgia

Russia invading Georgia has got to be one of the hugest items in the news right now. Despite the jokes about the state, Georgia, being invaded the ramifications of such has some world shattering consequences. No doubt if the Olympics weren’t on we’d hear a bit more about this.

What is most worrying about this entire thing is that it came without warning to the general public. There was little to no coverage of this impending crisis before it happened. I’m even agreeing with the statements that this is the first step in Russia becoming a Super Power again. That alone is scary enough considering how many billions of people lived for years with the fear of Nuclear war.

Oh yeah… Georgia has oil, black gold, Texas Tea. Uh… and other non-Hillbilly euphemisms.

So here are the problems:

1.) Bush used to like Putin
2.) Bush likes that guy in Georgia now
3.) Georgia got the French to broker the peace (really!! WTF?)
4.) The Russian’s said “Ok” then kept attacking
5.) Bush is going to give aid to Georgia
6.) Georgia attacked first!!!

I’m interested in seeing how this plays out over the next couple of weeks. What I’m worried about though is that George Bush Jr. (or his follower, McCain) will get us into another war that we can’t afford. Americans will be dyeing, in yet another country they’ can’t find on a map over oil. Worse case scenario, this blows over into another World War.

Best case scenario, the US is left weakened economically for the next three-four generations. Maybe our technological advancements will help us against the Communist Hoards. Or maybe we’ll be so beaten economically that the Chinese will step in and take over by leveraging our debt to them. Hopefully we’ll just continue to hang on by our fingernails.

Either way I fear for the state of America going forwards.
