For a brief moment I was hoping that there would not be any reports of Election Fraud this time like there was in 2004 and even 2000. But nope, my hopes have been shattered.
The number of Fraud Complaints was up, but hardly surprising considering the high turnouts this year. Of course the fraud this year is being reported a lot more subtly. Judges are apparently suppressing any investigation into such allegations, while other Judges ask the brains behind 2004 Election Fraud exactly what they were doing. Ironically it seems that people (Republican supporters?) are more upset about Karl Rove’s pet IT guy being questioned then Obama potentially quashing any issues in Wisconsin.
The vitriol against Obama’s win is still heavy though. Messages of doom and gloom on an Armageddon scale abound. This is of course despite reports of the previous administrations performance.
The question is, how do we solve Election Fraud once and for all. Here are some suggestions:
1.) Remove electronic touch screen voting machines totally, only rely on those that read the scribbled in dots. Otherwise only allow paper ballots.
2.) At polling places, have people show ID when checking in. This will slow the process down, but it has to be done. If there are any discrepancies, let the person vote, but flag their information for checking later. Use other public records to confirm the identification.
3.) Increase the use of mail in ballots. Fraud rates are lower as it’s harder get a hold of blank ballots.
4.) Openly publish the source code and processes used to count votes. This should be doubly true if voting machines are relied on at all.
5.) Investigate every single case of voter fraud immediately. Fast Track them through the court system, or ahead of time randomly pick X amount of judges and courts who will be dedicated to this. Judges that are from different districts should be assigned to investigate such reports. Increase punishments for doing so to confiscation of all property, life in prison, or removal of citizenship.
These steps won’t totally stop election fraud. There will always be clever people who try to get around it of course, but this would stop a huge amount of the potential problems.
